Informed choice, continuity of care and choice of birth place.
Fort McMurray Midwives provide exceptional care throughout the childbearing year - from initial prenatal labs all the way through six weeks after baby has arrived. The health care provided is evidence based, family centred and supportive for persons from all nationalities and backgrounds.
Midwives are primary healthcare providers who specialize in low-risk pregnancy, birth, postpartum and infant care. Where exceptions arise and risk factors change, midwives provide appropriate referrals and work together with other specialists to support optimum care.
Midwives are well integrated into the Canadian health care system and all Fort McMurray Midwives maintain hospital privileges at Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.
The cost of midwifery care is covered for residents of Alberta through Alberta Health Care. If you do not qualify for Alberta Health Care, please contact our practice for information on private pay services before applying for care.
Fort McMurray Midwives work together to provide the best care possible. While clients are assigned a primary midwife, they may be seen by another midwife or one of our teams nurses from time to time.
